Macromedia/Adobe Authorware

Authorware was a key tool in CBT and WBT early on in the evolution of e-learning. I never developed in Authorware. My role as an ID was to develop storyboards that programmers would take and build the course in Authorware. These were most often Word boards, but occasionally PowerPoint and other tools as well.

Lehr Furnace

This project was a CBT and an EPSS that was available to operators on the factory floor near the furnaces. The furnace was produced in 3D Studio Max so operators could open it up and see inside while key processes and procedures were explained. Content covered startup/shutdown, operation, emergency, maintenance, troubleshooting, and changeovers.

National Headers

This program was a CBT and EPSS program across seven different National cold parts formers (headers). Each machine was different and so essentially this was seven different courses. Content covered startup/shutdown, operation, emergency, maintenance, troubleshooting, and changeovers.

Die cast machines

EPSS covering the skilled trades assigned to maintaining and repairing all the die cast machines in an automotive die cast area. The EPSS resided on the factory floor so personnel could access close to repairs.

This project was developed around 2000. We were experimenting with various interface designs, as was the industry in general.

Carburizing Furnaces

A CBT/EPSS program covering the heat treat department in an automotive parts factory. The program was designed for the skilled trades that operated and maintained the furnaces: operators, pipefitters, electricians, millwrights, pyrotechnicians, and breakdown/light up personnel.

Brown stock CBT

Created in 1996, this CBT focused on operations and maintenance of a brown stock area in a papermill. As an ID I storyboarded this content for Authorware using a customer storyboard tool developed at the company where I worked. IDs would fill text fields for various templates, then export to a database where the programmer would input the content into Authorware.
